Theme of Jet Stingray (Marine Base) - Megaman X4 OST

listen. listen to that opening. listen to how that beat and the rising synth drive you forward and further toward your ultimate goal. listen to my favorite track off of this OST, and furthermore, from my favorite MMX game.

do any of you remember first riding the hoverbike out of the base as it was falling apart? having to dash through doors to break them down, so as not to be crushed by the force of the strange gravity that seemed to be moving toward you (also known as the left side of the screen?

remember breaking out of there into the second phase of the stage and hitting the water? and then fucking riding on it? remember hitting all sorts of crazy jumps off of ramps and such to get the hit on Jet those couple of times with the energy blade on the bottom of the bike (and not to mention to get to that life booster)?

remember, when having to REALLY fight him, narrowly dodging (if at all) his ridiculously fast charges? how he’d eventually enrage and start invincibly whirling around the screen like a maniac?

yeah, so do I. now someone get me a drumset so I can get back into it and cover this, first and foremost, please.

- Sean

Oh my gosh yes. Megaman X4 was my first ever Megaman X game, and the first modern  sidescroller I ever saw do water effects like it did with the hoverbike and thought how amazing that was. This level both frustrated and excited me to no end. =D

Thanks for reblogging this Octorock!

humblebundle:

Our newest collection of incredible games has arrived—say hello to Humble Indie Bundle V!

Be sure to watch it in HD!

If you’re new to the rodeo, here’s the breakdown. For two weeks, you can pay whatever you want to get these DRM-free games on Windows, Mac, and Linux:

Okay, okay, I know what you’re thinking. I keep up with gaming’s biggest hits, I already have these titles, why would I buy them again? REASONS: some of the money goes to charity. Charities that protect our digital rights like the +Electronic Frontier Foundation and that ensure unfortunate children in hospitals can have as much as fun as you and I through the Child’s Play Charity.

Okay, there’s your ethical incentive. Now, for selfish incentives. DRM-free. Bastion, Limbo, and Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery are on Steam, but Steam’s DRM. Don’t want that? Think it’s like icky gum freshly spit from someone on the sidewalk? Then don’t step in it and get these games via this +Humble Bundle. Already have them on Steam? Scrape that gum off already and stop making squelchy noises as you walk!

Like ignoring others and feeling superior through your preferences in music? I’m sure you do! But you know, you can’t feel all-superior without the wicked soundtrack from Bastion and the odd vibes of Psychonauts. Don’t really feel superior but want a different atmosphere in your lounging area? You’re covered there as well! Amnesia and Limbo have their own sort of chill tunes to them.

What about Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery? Frankly, I haven’t the slightest clue. Making it a mystery. Do you like mysteries? I like mysteries. Meaning I’m definitely going to try and dive into this Bundle, even with it being the only game I haven’t yet!

I Was Born For This (Ocarina Cover) [4:49] from the Journey Music Bundle by Austin Wintory.

This ocarina-driven interpretation of the end credits aria was created by my newest musical compatriot, Cris Gale aka ‘The Ocarina Diva.’ Cris did this immediately following the release of Journey and for those who’ve not seen her video yet, watch it here. ~Austin Wintory.

So I basically dropped the ball on uploading these completely and you guys have probably already heard all of these from somewhere else by now, but I want you to know…I did forget! But I cared enough to try and amend my forgetfulness by beginning to do this again.

Enjoy!

Real talk.

I originally planned to post today that I was going to take a lengthy hiatus from making music. Instead, I posted my upcoming schedule of 2012, and just sort of took a mild break from the TrackLog. And while that original post would’ve said something to the effect that it…

Keep doing what you do, dude. You’re an inspiration, to aspiring musicians as well as existing musicians, for staying independent and not getting stuck with a label. Hell, you’re an inspiration by your sheer optimism. We need more of that in the world. We need more people doing what they love, so they can know what they love, know what love is, and learn how to love each other as humanity should.

Hey, so I see you guys kinda liked that Journey music I uploaded. Well, I intend to get back to that shortly, but in the meantime, have this little thing I found, I believe it was tweeted about by the @thatgamecompany Twitter account. Take the chill music of Journey and add a little hint of relaxed hiphop to it, and you get this.

And you thought Journey couldn’t get better? =P
